MOWIT is dedicated to expanding opportunities for women to enter and succeed in apprenticeship and careers in the construction and building trades of the greater St. Louis area. MOWIT works with employers, unions, educational organizations, and other entities and allies to increase women's equal employment opportunity and equitale working conditions. Participation in area Career Fair Days, Summer campss, and ongoing referral of new members to area apprenticeships.
We work with local and regional Girl Scouts to provide badge workshops. We help host Women In Construction Week activities at area high schools. We participate and recruit at events like: Saint Louis Lady Arm Wrestlers, Arch Rival Roller Girls, LGTB Community events like PRIDE Parade.
Connecting tradeswomen to jobs
Partnering with owners and contractors, such as MoDOT, Tarlton, Labor Unions, and also other groups such as St Louis Area Training and Employment and YWCA to connect tradeswomen to jobs in the region through our private Available-For-Work List (monthly) and referrals as requested and allowed by hiring halls. We also welcome contractors to advertise job openings by posting on our Facebook page or sending us an email. We refer all non-tradeswomen to local hiring halls.
